Yoga allows me to be who I am without struggle. To notice, breathe, remember and enjoy this body, this moment. I love returning to my yoga mat to play in the body awakening, breathe into a heart wide open and find gratitude for the infinite that I forgot was me. Classes integrate a clear foundation in anatomy with intelligent alignment, hands on adjustments and ever evolving flows to heal the body. Students are encouraged to cultivate a deep passion for self examination, light hearted exploration and drop everything in order to find out that when we hold on to nothing, what is left, is all we truly need.

It has been an incredible gift to have studied and trained in yoga, structural bodywork and meditation. I have been honored to meet and practice with so many talented and amazing teachers whose work I cherish and share now as I teach. Thank you Patricia Walden, Ana Forrest, Tom Myers, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Lynne Begier, David Magone, Andrew Cohen, Bo Forbes, Sundara, Pamela Wilson, Arthur Kilmurray, Sri Louise, Byron Katie and Glenn Black for reflecting the limitless.

I was introduced to the physical practice of yoga by my husband and partner, David Vendetti, in 2002. I have certifications with Glenn Black, Ana Forrest, David Magone and Cameron Shayne, and have also studied with Shandor Remete, Duncan Wong, Manju Jois, and a number of other amazing and talented teachers. In January of 2008, David and I opened South Boston Yoga and continue to develop our community here.

I feel that the core of a "successful" yoga practice lies in the development of a strong personal practice, and I teach my classes with the intention of giving my students the tools and experience to help them develop in this way. My classes focus on intelligent strength building through longer holds, arm balancing postures, and transitioning with grace, articulation and control from one posture to the next. I teach each class with purpose and with great respect for my students' health and safety.

As a yogini with scoliosis, Magi seeks to go beyond physical boundaries and explore new possibilities of movement and breath in her practice. Her classes create a safe, warm space where all levels of student are free to explore their growing practice, both on and off the mat. Her use of a unique blend of intricate and intelligent sequencing with asana founded in anatomy connects students with their breath and body, which allows them to reconnect with their passion. Her teaching is guided to help students work in a pain free or pain freeing way.

Magi's teaching is inspired by her two main teachers, David Vendetti and Ana Forrest as well as her own personal practice. She is also grateful to have had the opportunity to study with an ever-growing list of incredible and motivating teachers.

Magi is manager of South Boston Yoga.

I discovered yoga after sustaining several knee injuries and 8 knee surgeries from being a collegiate level athlete and aspiring dancer. I believe that yoga helps me to connect to my body in a more conscious way with awareness and acceptance.

In class, you can expect awakening sequences linking movement with breath, vitalizing arm balances, concise alignment cues and light-hearted humor. I have trained with Baron Baptiste and have taken numerous workshops with Shiva Rea, Desiree Rumbaugh, Budokon Founder Cameron Shayne and Ana Forrest and I am certified through YogaKids with Marsha Wenig. I teach children from ages 3 to 93.

Dorian Rose fell in love with the energizing and therapeutic aspects of yoga when she began studying Ashtanga at Back Bay Yoga with David Vendetti in 2000. Having been injured training in dance and suffering from anxiety/depression, she found relief and compassion in yoga. She found she wished to share this experience and teacher-trained with Manju Jois, son of Pattabhi Jois, to deepen her practice. She has since explored the therapeutic and spiritual aspects of yoga, taking workshops with many teachers including Ana Forrest, Kelly Morris and Sundara. She has recently completed a 200 hr. training with Bo Forbes, whose unique style of Elemental Yoga integrates mind and body healing in yoga flows. Dorian teaches a class that focuses on challenging the practitioner to go further and open possibilites for creating space and ease in ones body and life.

Georgia is a certified vinyasa teacher. She was trained at Sonic Yoga in NYC. She began practicing asana in the Ashtanga tradition in 2000 in college when chronic knee injuries prevented her from being able to run and ski. After her first yoga class, she was hooked. Upon moving to NYC in 2002, she began practicing Vinyasa and other traditions including Iyengar, Anusara and Jivamukti. Her teachers include Christine Hoar of Bristol Yoga, Jonathan Fields and Lauren Hanna of Sonic Yoga, Schuyler Grant of Kula Yoga, and Elana Brower of Virayoga. Georgia has also studied with David Life, Sharon Gannon, Shiva Rea, Tias Little, Richard Freeman, Ana Forrest, Glenn Black and Desiree Rumbaugh. Her classes integrate her diverse background by focusing on alignment, breath and flow. She has come to understand yoga as a way of life that not only keeps her physically healthy (her knees haven't bothered her since college!) but spiritually and emotionally as well. In addition to being a certified yoga teacher, Georiga is a Columbia University trained mental health counselor.

I came to yoga with a competitive athlete's background and expectations. I was promptly humbled by my first class, yet immediately drawn to the focus on the present and calming environment of the class. I continue to learn and enjoy this physical and emotional adventure, while I apply the "on the mat" skills of attention to breath and staying present to life off of the mat. Yoga has helped me to approach anxiety and depression in a healthy way, as well as given me a repertoire of yoga party tricks to wow my friends and family. I have found my grounding in a variety of yoga styles including vinyasa, Forrest and Ashtanga. With partner yoga and flying I have taken my practice to a whole new level of trust, stability and openness. I offer students a fun, accessible class filled with hands-on assists and lively music.

    • A chronic low back injury brought me to yoga, but after one week of "trying" a daily practice, I was permanently hooked.  Not only did I begin to heal and strengthen my body, but I found my yoga practice also addressed the needs of my mind and spirit.  As I began to see the interrelatedness of my emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical states, my whole world view shifted.  From a place of perceived alienation and depression I thought was "reality", I have come to find joy and a sense of being at home in myself and in the world.

Yoga is a journey, not an end destination.  Each pose begins with a  first step that anyone can do, and each student is challenged to bring their practice a step further. My classes are fun, challenging, and definitely all levels.  If you can breathe, you can do yoga!

My yoga classes and my life are deeply indebted to my trainings with David Vendetti in his first Body Awakening Teacher Training, and Ana Forrest in her Foundational Teacher Training.  But just as deeply, my practice and classes reflect the love, laughter, and dedication of the broader yoga community.  When you come to the studio, you'll see my teachers all around you.

    • I love yoga because it gives me a place where I can move and breath and play without worry and without judgement. Yoga is a place where I can play, where my inner child can be my outer child. I love the practice of acrobatic partner yoga because there is a perfect balance of support and surrender. In sharing this practice with others it is my hope that you can explore the boundaries of your abilities to be a foundation or a flier in a fun, safe and supportive enviroment.
